Procedures

HIP. Our services include Uncemented ceramic on ceramic hip replacement carried out through an approach that minimises surgical trauma, custom hip replacement, hip resurfacing where appropriate, hip arthroscopy (key hole surgery) for cam (femoroacetabular) impingement and labral tears, hip revision and metal on metal hip assessment and advice. Hip injections for treatment and diagnosis are carried out on an outpatient basis. Sports injuries and soft tissue problems around the hip are diagnosed and managed.

KNEE. Sussex Knee Clinic offer partial knee resurfacing, patello femoral knee resurfacing and the Conformis true custom knee resurfacing solution, early indications are that this appears an excellent alternative to total knee replacement in approximately half of the patients that would have traditionally had a total knee replacement. It gives a knee that is pain free, that feels like their own, and allows rapid turn of motion with a feeling of trust and stability. We are a national training centre for custom knee resurfacing and partial knee resurfacing. Anterior Cruciate ligament reconstruction and meniscal surgery both repair and partial trimming are expertly provided using the latest techniques and equipment.

FOOT and ANKLE. Sussex Orthopaedic Clinic offers state of the art minimally invasive bunion correction treating hallux valgus with a refined modern day case procedure, ankle arthroscopy, and ankle replacement as appropriate. We treat sports injuries, impingement and arthritic conditions. We work closely with custom made orthotics, supports and braces to give you the best-combined care for your foot or ankle problem.

SHOULDER.  Many conditions can be helped with physiotherapy or injection based treatments. We offer arthroscopic (key hole) techniques for many procedures including shoulder dislocation, instability and rotator cuff tears. Some procedures including modern shoulder-resurfacing procedure for arthritis are carried out via an open approach. We also advise and treat on fractures around the shoulder including clavicle (collar bone) fractures.

SPINE. We offer a range of services to help free you of pain and help restore your quality of life. Treatments are non-operative rehabilitation, injection based treatments and if wished surgical options. Injection based treatments include Vertebroplasty for vertebral fractures caused by osteoporosis, intrathecal and epidural analgesia for pain relief, injections of local anaesthetic and cortisone for leg pain originating from the spine, spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation for nerve injury pain, trigeminal ganglion treatments for trigeminal neuralgia. Discectomy for “slipped discs”, spinal decompression and fusions where appropriate.
